About me
My name is Jake, and welcome. I am originally from Cheshire but moved down to Cornwall to study and am currently living in Exeter. My passion for the outdoors and photography stemmed from my parent's love for the outdoors and nature. Growing up, I remember borrowing their compact cameras when we went out walking or on holidays, and it was from this that my passion grew.
After completing my GCSEs, I transferred to college, where I was able to start studying photography properly, further enhancing my skills and experimenting with different techniques. As much as I enjoyed learning the studio side of things, I quickly discovered that I much preferred being out in the field as opposed to indoors.
With my expanded knowledge and even greater passion for documenting the natural world, following college, I chose to move down to Cornwall, where I spent 3 years studying Marine and Natural History Photography. Here, I was introduced to a variety of new practices, including underwater photography and microscopy.
Photography for me is more than just capturing moments. It is an art and a tool that I hope to use to help showcase the beauty of our planet, as well as inspire others to help protect this precious ecosystem that sustains us and of which, we are all a part of.
